Juneteenth Holiday Facilities Closure

  • Date: 06/19/2024 (all day)

City of Cupertino facilities will be closed in observance of Juneteenth on Wednesday, June 19. Juneteenth is a holiday to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States, and to celebrate African American culture and achievements. Originally celebrated in Texas on June 19, 1866, the day marked the first anniversary of when African Americans there first learned of the Emancipation Proclamation.

The following facilities will be closed:

  • Cupertino City Hall
  • Quinlan Community Center
  • Cupertino Senior Center

All traffic and parking regulations will be enforced except for parking where signs specifically exempt holidays. Garbage and recycling collection will continue on a normal schedule. Code Enforcement will not be issuing citations for street sweeping violations.

Sheriff’s Office: The West Valley Substation will be closed, though officers will be on patrol. For emergencies, call 9-1-1. For non-emergency officer assistance, call the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office at (408) 299-2311.

The following facilities will remain open during normal hours:

  • Cupertino Sports Center
  • Blackberry Farm Golf Course
