CUPERTINO, CA – The City of Cupertino announced today that a project application has officially been submitted for The Hills at Vallco (
http://thehillsatvallco.com). Built in 1977, Vallco has been important to the economic and social life of Cupertino. However, since the late 1980s, the mall has seen a variety of owners and an increasing vacancy rate.
“The revitalization of Vallco has been one of the city’s highest priorities for more than two decades and this proposal has certainly captured the public’s attention,” said Cupertino Mayor Rod Sinks. “Our residents look forward to a thorough review of the project and an opportunity to weigh in.”
As part of the review process the city will:
- Review the plans for compliance with building code and municipal ordinance
- Conduct an environmental review
- Submit to planning commission for review
- Review by the City Council
The public review process is expected to take from between 12 and 18 months. For information on the project as it relates to the public review process please visit
www.cupertino.org/vallco. At this site you will also be able to sign up for e-mail notification from the city regarding this project.
