Notice of Audit Committee Unscheduled Vacancy

Notice is hereby given that the City of Cupertino is accepting applications for one unscheduled vacancy on the Audit Committee. The vacancy occurred when Committee member Stan Stemkoski resigned. The term of this unscheduled vacancy expires in January of 2013. This vacancy is open until filled.

The Committee consists of four or five members serving four-year terms. Two individuals are members of City Council, and a minimum of two and a maximum of three are at large members. The at large members shall not be officials or employees of the City, nor cohabit with as defined by law, nor be related by blood or marriage to any member of the Committee, the City Manager or staff person assigned to the Committee. An Audit Committee at large member is not required to be a Cupertino resident, but the City Council will give priority to individuals who have substantial accounting, audit, or investment experience, preferably in connection with a governmental agency. The powers and functions of the Audit Committee shall be as follows: A. Review the annual audit report and management letter; B. Recommend appointment of auditors; C. Review the monthly Treasurer’s report, D. Review City investment policies and internal controls of such policies. The Audit Committee falls under the Political Reform Act of 1974 and financial disclosure is required.

Meetings are held as needed in January, April, July, and October on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 4:00 p.m. at City Hall in Conference Room A. For more information, call staff liaison Carol Atwood at (408) 777-3220.
